Experience A Charter Boat Category: travel leisure » boatingI love going on vacation to Florida. I have been vacationing to Florida at least once each year since I was a little kid. My parents, siblings and I would pile into our family station wagon and make the long drive from Wisconsin to Florida every summer. We would stop at camp grounds along the way to spending at least two weeks as close to the ocean as we could find a place to stay. I remember spending endless hours on the beach shores looking out on all the large boats that passed me by. I wanted to be on one of those charter boats more than anything else. As an adult, I have continued to vacation to Florida with my own family and our friends. We go to a condo every spring for two weeks and we love it. I never tire of Florida vacations because they are absolutely beautiful. I love walking with my daughters along the water and playing football with my sons along the beach. My absolute favorite thing to do each year on vacation, however, is spend a day fishing on a charter boat. My childhood dream has been coming true each year for the past twenty years. In fact, I think I have been fishing on a deep sea charter boat nearly thirty times since I first dreamed about doing it. I have been on the charter boat with my father, my father-in-law, my wife, our children and several of my closest friends at different times in the past twenty years. I just cannot get enough of fishing on the charter boat in what seems like the middle of a huge ocean. If you're looking to vacation to Florida any time soon, then I suggest you make your way to the Gulf of Mexico and get yourself on a charter boat fishing excursion as soon as possible. You'll absolutely love the feeling of spending a day at sea and of catching the biggest fish you can possibly catch. A charter boat fishing experience is truly one of the best parts of a Florida vacation, so don't go without taking at least a day for this. Do a little research and see what kinds of fishing charter boats are available in the area you will be visiting. Look for great deals by taking a large group with you or by going on an off day. Charter fishing is a great hobby to develop, so make plans to experience charter fishing for the first time. tags: charter, fishing, Florida, vacation, spending, along, boats, least, friends, ocean, weeks, since, taking, times, beach, looking, large, experience, little, absolutely |

Coping With A Divorce Category: society » divorceIn this article I am going to explain about how a friend of mine managed to get through a rather messy divorce and how she came through the whole experience a much stronger person. I hope her story helps other people who have or are going through a divorce. My friend is called Sue and she married her childhood sweetheart called John when she was only twenty-two. Sue has explained that at the time she could not have been happier and was very much in love. She hoped and imagined that they would spend the rest of their lives together. Sue had met John when she was at school and they had been dating since the age of fifteen. After the marriage, they then talked about starting a family and before long they were parents to two boys. Sue believed that this was the icing on the cake and left work to bring up her children. Unfortunately things were to soon go horribly wrong. John started coming home later and later from work and Sue was at a loss as to what was going on. John of course stated that he was only doing his work and that he was working overtime to give his family a better life, especially as Sue was no longer working. In reality John was having an affair with a woman he had met at work. After a few months Sue found out about the affair and asked John as to why he had seeked the attention of this other woman. He replied that Sue had been the only woman he had slept with and that he felt that he had missed out on the experience of dating other people. Despite the fact that Sue was willing to forgive John, the relationship was soon to end as he moved in to live with his other woman. Sue was obviously very upset and could not believe what was happening to her. Before long divorce proceedings were under way and Sue decided to put the family house on the market and returned home to live with her parents, the boys of course went with her. This was a very depressing time for Sue. One day however she was walking through her local shopping precint and saw a group of handicapped children. Sue thought to herself that the situation she was in was only temporary and that she would eventually be happy again, but that these children would more than likely to be handicapped for life. This strangely enough helped Sue to gain the strength and to think positive about the future. Sue is now re-married and is once again very happy, she still hates her ex-husband however. Sue has learnt a lot from her experience of getting divorced and tries to think in a much more positive way. She has realised that there are many people in the world in a far worse position than what she is in. tags: other, about, woman, through, children, family, people, would, divorce, experience, going, again, After, dating, affair, think, positive, working, later, could |
Architecture school Category: reference education » homeschoolingFor some people, it was all about some building that inspired them as a child. Perhaps they grew up in some gorgeous mansion. perhaps they went to one of the great museums of the world as a kid and were completely captivated by it. Whatever it was, a single building got them interested in the process of designing and building others. For other people, architecture schools are part of a political mission. You wouldn't believe how many visionaries there are at an average architectural school. At the one I go to, they probably make up half the class. Some of them want to design buildings with the idea of providing beautiful and affordable housing to the poor, others to change the way we see space as a society. For me, going to architecture school was part of a much more down to earth experience. As a matter of fact, you could say that I always had an interest in buildings. I grew up on a farm, in one of the last communities in this country that still practices barn raising. For me, architecture school was not the realization of a lifelong abstract dream, but rather a way to build on my early, hands on experiences with communal buildings. I feel like this gives me a much clearer vision than many people in architecture schools nowadays. Your typical architecture school student has his or her head in the clouds. In some ways, this is a good thing. It is good to have a vision to unify your buildings. There are many things that buildings have to be. They have to be functional, structurally sound, and comfortable to occupy. They don't necessarily have to be beautiful. When they are beautiful, however, it is like a wonderful luxury for the city around. Although not everyone understands an architect's vision, they can tell whether or not he has one. On the other hand, if you enroll in a school of architecture without any hands-on experience, you can lose track of the purpose behind what you are doing. Architecture is, after all, about providing spaces for people to live and work. Architecture school can teach you many things, but unless you go in with this understanding, you will never build with both elegance and practicality. tags: school, architecture, buildings, people, beautiful, vision, building, providing, schools, others, things, about, build, other, experience, Architecture, structurally, comfortable, sound, functional |
Plasma TV as Part of the Home Theater Category: product reviews » digital productsThere`s just something about spending a couple of hours at a theater, and many people are trying to recreate that feeling with home theaters. There`s no doubt that both electronic and furnishing industries are meeting the demand, and you`ll find a great array of equipment, furniture and extras to make your home theater feel as much like a commercial theater as possible. The plasma TV is no doubt one big step toward creating the ultimate viewing experience. The sharp picture added with the potential for a large, flat screen are important steps, but the benefits of a plasma TV don`t stop there. Plasma TVs have an important feature the ability to sit directly in front of the screen or to either side without losing a good view of the movie. Many of the television options have a very limited viewing range before the picture becomes much less sharp and clear. Another important aspect of the plasma TV is that the screen can be mounted on a wall, meaning there doesn`t need to be an entertainment center or even a shelf where the screen sits. It`s all aimed at offering the viewers an experience similar to that of a movie theater. Remember that setting up the home theater may start with the electronics, but it certainly doesn`t end there. You`ll find authentic theater furnishing to further your home theater experience. Choose reclining seats, seats with armrests or comfortable recliners. You`ll also find companies that provide everything else you need to make your home theater more like the commercial experience. Want popcorn? Don`t just pop a bag of the buttery treat pop a whole batch in your popcorn popper that looks just like the popper at the theater. Drinks can be distributed the same way! If you`re looking for more practical items, you`ll be relieved to know you can even find inexpensive and easy-to-install sound proofing material for walls, floors and ceilings. When you`ve finished this project, you can cover the floors with carpet and welcome mats just like those in your favorite theater, and hide the sound-proofed walls with authentic theater curtains, made to fit your home theater walls. Your home theater may very well start with a plasma TV after all, that`s arguably the latest and greatest technology available for your viewing pleasure. But don`t think that creating the ultimate home theater experience has to stop there. tags: theater, experience, plasma, there, screen, important, walls, viewing, commercial, doesn96t, popper, popcorn, creating, picture, sharp, ultimate, you96ll, floors, There96s, doubt |
7 Tips to Building Your blog's Readership Category: internet business » bloggingAttracting traffic to a blog or a web site is challenging enough. So from the very beginning, when you start to see visitors coming to read your blog, be sure that they feel comfortable to stick around. And there are a number of ways you can help them to do just that. Here are seven vital ingredients for building a successful blog with a loyal following. 1. Publish Regularly. As your readers become familiar with the frequency of your posts, it will influence their visiting behavior. If your readers know that you post fresh content every day, they will probably come every day to read it. If they know you post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, that's when they will come. 2. Stay on Topic. Stick to your niche. If your blog doesn't have a niche, give it one. Readers like blog's that are focused on a particular theme or topic. If you have no theme and just post about anything, then readers are less likely to become passionate about your blog and will probably move on to somewhere else. 3. Use Meaningful Titles in Posts. This not only announces clearly what the post is about, but it will help people navigate your blog and also influence your ranking with search engines. 4. Interact With Your Readers. Think of your blog like a conversation. You post. Readers comment. Be active and be positive as you interact and converse with your readers. 5. Highlight Your Best Posts. Don't let your best posts get lost in your archives. It’s always a good idea to link to your best posts from a ‘best posts’ category on the main page. 6. Provide Good Navigation to Popular Pages If you help people find the key pages within your blog, their visit will be a much more enjoyable experience. 7. Avoid Not Posting for Extended Periods. If someone visits your blog and discovers that the last post was three weeks ago, they will probably be disappointed. If you don't post, people may give you the benefit of the doubt and come back on a few days to check, but you better believe they will lose interest quickly if you fall out of your regular schedule and stop posting. There you have it. Seven little tips that will make a big difference to your blog's readership. It's not rocket science. It's just using some common sense when posting and interacting with your readers. tags: readers, posts, Readers, probably, people, about, their, become, influence, theme, blogs, posting, niche, every, Posts, experience, Avoid, within, positive, comment |
Adjusting To An Aging Mind Category: home family » elderly careAs our brains age, we're less likely to think as quickly or remember things as well as we used to. Research is now showing how the brain changes and adapts with age. You can use what we've learned and follow a few simple tips to help remember things and avoid scams. Dr. Denise C. Park, director of the Roybal Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Illinois, explains that the knowledge we gain from life experience can sometimes compensate for other changes in our brains as we age. Older professionals can often be better at their jobs than younger ones. "Your memory may be less efficient," Park says, "but your knowledge about how to do it may be better." Researchers can design tests that expose problems in the aging mind by creating tasks in which older adults can't use their experience. These tests reflect real-life situations like getting upsetting medical news or having a crafty scam artist pressure you for an answer. One key to dealing with situations like these, Park says, is not to make rash decisions. Ask for further information and more time to consider. Discuss it with friends or relatives. Perhaps the most common trouble people face as they age is remembering things. Park says it's important to acknowledge that your memory is fallible. "For medicines, driving directions or other things with specific details, don't rely on your memory," she says. "That's good advice for everybody, but especially for older adults." If you need to remember something important, write it down on a pad or use an electronic device like a personal digital assistant (PDA) that lets you store notes and reminders. Another way to remember things is through routines. Take your medicine with a snack or a particular meal, for example. Always keep your keys and wallet in the same place. You can also use your imagination. If you imagine doing something beforehand, Park says, you're much more likely to do it. So, for example, imagine taking your medicine in as much detail as you can, paying attention to where, when and how. Practice can help, too. Rehearse talking to a salesperson. Visit somewhere new in advance. Keeping your brain active with activities that require mental effort, such as reading, may help keep your mind sharp. Staying physically active may help, too. tags: things, remember, memory, important, their, experience, better, tests, other, medicine, something, brains, situations, adults, knowledge, older, example, imagine, changes, likely |
Balancing Hope And Reality To Plan A Dignified Death Category: health fitness » meditationDealing with the end of life and the decisions that accompany it bring critical challenges for everyone involved-patients, families, friends and physicians. In fact, "managing" the progression toward death, particularly when a dire diagnosis has been made, can be a highly complex process. Each person involved is often challenged in a different way. Communication is the first objective, and it should start with the physicians. In their role, physicians are often tasked to bridge the chasm between lifesaving and life-enhancing care; thus, they often struggle to balance hopefulness with truthfulness. Determining "how much information," "within what space of time" and "with what degree of directness for this particular patient" requires a skillful commitment that matures with age and experience. A physician's guidance must be highly personalized and must consider prognosis, the risks and benefits of various interventions, the patient's symptom burden, the timeline ahead, the age and stage of life of the patient, and the quality of the patient's support system. At the same time, it's common for the patient and his or her loved ones to narrowly focus on life preservation, especially when a diagnosis is first made. They must also deal with shock, which can give way to a complex analysis that often intersects with guilt, regret and anger. Fear must be managed and channeled. This stage of confusion can last some time, but a sharp decline, results of diagnostic studies, or an internal awareness usually signals a transition and leads patients and loved ones to finally recognize and understand that death is approaching. Once acceptance arrives, end-of-life decision-making naturally follows. Ongoing denial that death is approaching only compresses the timeline for these decisions, adds anxiety, and undermines the sense of control over one's own destiny. With acceptance, the ultimate objectives become quality of life and comfort for the remainder of days, weeks or months. Physicians, hospice, family and other caregivers can focus on assessing the patient's physical symptoms, psychological and spiritual needs, and defining end-of-life goals. How important might it be for a patient to attend a granddaughter's wedding or see one last Christmas, and are these realistic goals to pursue? In order to plan a death with dignity, we need to acknowledge death as a part of life-an experience to be embraced rather than ignored when the time comes. Will you be ready? Mike Magee, M.D., is a Senior Fellow in the Humanities to the World Medical Association, director of the Pfizer Medical Humanities Initiative, and host of the weekly Web cast "Health Politics with Dr. Mike Magee." tags: death, often, patients, patient, physicians, Magee, complex, endoflife, goals, these, quality, timeline, loved, stage, focus, first, highly, Medical, diagnosis, experience |
Wrap Your "Claws" Around This-Tips On How To Eat A Lobster Category: food beverage » gourmetFor the ultimate seafood experience, it's tough to top the sweet flavor of a tender lobster. Here are some succulent suggestions from the experts at Red Lobster on easy ways to crack and eat this delectable dish. Step 1: Where to begin? The claws, with meat that is tender and flavorful, are generally the best place to start. After removing the two front claws, use a nutcracker to crack them open and a lobster fork to remove the meat. Step 2: The tail meat is considered the sweetest part of the lobster. Turn the lobster on its back, holding the body with one hand and the tail with the other. Gently twist the tail to detach it. Remove the end flippers. Using a fork, you can then pull out the juicy meat. Step 3: There's plenty of meat in the body of the lobster. Flip it over and unhinge the back by cracking it apart lengthwise and pull out the tasty meat with a pick. The greenish-gray tomalley in the body cavity is considered a delicacy (the sand sac near the top of the lobster is not edible, though). Step 4: The last step is enjoying the meat in the legs. The meat here is delicious and can be sucked out like a straw. Whether you enjoy lobster "as is" or prefer dipping it into melted butter or a savory sauce, this deep-sea delight can be a dining experience like no other. Plus, it's a low-calorie, low-fat source of protein: 3.5 ounces of lobster meat has only about 96 calories and less than 2 grams of fat, according to the seafood specialists. Succulent and good for you-how many foods can you say that about? tags: lobster, about, claws, other, considered, tender, crack, seafood, experience, Whether, straw, enjoy, prefer, dipping, greenishgray, melted, sucked, though, edible, delicacy |
